Why this access. gmail.modify is the narrowest Gmail scope that can both read message content (to triage and draft) and modify mail in place (labels, read-state, Trash). A read-only or labels-only scope cannot do both.

How it connects

Nylas, our email-infrastructure provider, handles email syncing under a data-processing agreement. The same connection also supports Microsoft Outlook, iCloud and IMAP mailboxes.

Storage, retention & deletion

While your mailbox is connected, email is stored encrypted on OpenWay servers. After you disconnect, we keep the data for 90 days. Items in Trash auto-purge after 30 days, and you can request full deletion at any time.
